Tab.Title Template Suggestions

Overview

This page contains suggested Tab.Title templates for several collections. Feel free to use these templates in your OraSettings as-is, or adapted to suit your preferences.

In all cases, you must add a Text Template to a collection and set the Heading value to Tab.Title:

Ancestry

US Federal Census Collections

The following template will work for all of Ancesrty's US Federal Census collections from 1790 to 1940 except 1830:

[NAME] [SOURCE.YEAR] Census

Ancestry's source citation is different for 1830 and it does not provide a useful label for the census year. To handle 1830, use a literal for the year:

[NAME] 1830 Census

You could use a literal for all the years because each collection is for a single year, but using the [SOURCE.YEAR] variable reference makes it easier to copy the template into each collection.

Marriage

The following template uses the nameSurname transform to produce a relatively short tab title that includes the surnames of the spouses and the year.

[NAME:nameSurname]/[NAME2:nameSurname] [YEAR]
