ORA's Generic Service has a tweak for Google Books.

2022 Version

In late 2022, Google introduced a "new" Google Books. ORA's tweak supports the URL and HTML used for that version of Google Books:

https://www.google.com/books/edition/_/lcNjszQgfsQC

ORA extracts Field data from the "About this edition" and "About the work" sections of the page.

Opera Issue

When using the 2022 version of Google Books where the domain in the URL typically begins with "www.google.", the Opera browser considers the Google Books page to be part of Google search results. By default, Opera suppresses browser extensions on search result pages and you will not see the OraPanel on the 2022 version of Google Books. There are two workarounds. You can choose one or the other.

  1. On the Opera Extensions page, you can enable an Opera preference setting to allow ORA to operate on search result pages:
"Allow access to search page results" Is Checked
  2. You can manually change the domain in the URL from "www.google." to "books.google.". If you leave the rest of the URL unchanged, Google Books will show the same page content but Opera will not consider it part of Google "search results".

    So, for example, change:

    https://www.google.com/books/edition/_/lcNjszQgfsQC

    To:

    https://books.google.com/books/edition/_/lcNjszQgfsQC

2021 Version

Prior to late 2022, Google Books presented its "classic" version. ORA's tweak supports the URL and HTML used for that version of Google Books:

https://books.google.com/books?id=fqREAQAAMAAJ&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0

ORA extracts Field data from the "Bibliographic information" section of the page. If you do not see that section, click the "About this book" link in the Google Books sidebar.
